How to Play the Classic Block Puzzle
Rotate and stack falling tetrominoes to complete solid horizontal lines. Clear four lines with one piece for a Tetris, the top-scoring move in the game.

The goal
Seven tetromino shapes fall from the top of the playfield: I, O, T, S, Z, J and L. Move and rotate each piece so it joins the stack without leaving gaps. A fully filled horizontal line disappears and scores points, and any columns left hanging over a hole cost you board space, so keep the surface as flat as possible.
Every ten cleared lines the level advances and the pieces fall faster. The game ends when a new piece can no longer enter the playfield, so survival depends on clearing lines before the stack reaches the top.

Hard drop, the piece lands instantly.Hard drop scores nothing extra, but it saves time on every piece. On a fast level the seconds you save are the difference between surviving and stacking out.

Scores multiply with the level, so a Tetris on level 5 is worth far more than one on level 1. Leaving one column open for the I piece is the standard way to set up four-line clears, and holding two or three rows low before dropping the I piece stacks the bonus quickly.
